ParticipantHAHAHAHA….what a bunch of hooey propaganda THAT is, Leonard…..
I could have had anything I wanted within my financial range, and I completely bypassed the L&H stuff. No thanks! Just my own preference. Believe me, I have no secret desires — other than an openly spoken one to own a gold Oriane by Camac. 🙂

ParticipantYes they do, Rosemary. They have a 30-day, no-questions-asked guarantee. That alone makes it worth dealing with them. They are good people….honest and fair.

ParticipantI am so lucky that out of the blue, I dealt with the Virginia Harp Center when I bought my Camac and that I had a wonderful experience and got a wonderful harp. I feel so bad for anyone who has to go through the experience you did, Rosemary. And I’m so glad that you have the new Lyon & Healy 100 to play. YESSSSSSSS!!!

ParticipantMight just be best to deal with a really reputable company like the Virginia Harp Center. They have such excellent customer service and really care about the satisfaction of their customers. They aren’t in it for “this brand is better than that brand” or “my brand is the best and only” kind of thing. They offer many different brands and are really into “you might really like this harp” because they try to know their customers likes and dislikes. I find them just an excellent concern. Last summer I just wanted to play some harps and the owner in NJ said, “Sure! Come by and play as many and as long as you wish.” I bought some music and some strings because I wanted to, but also because they are such good people to buy from. I got my BEAUTIFUL WONDERFUL Camac from them before that visit — from their Virginia store, and that transaction was also a really positive experience.

ParticipantI just use a Korg CA-30 with a harpwire from Stephanie Curcio. Totally inexpensive and works great for laying the temperament in the middle octave. The rest I tune by ear listening for beats.

ParticipantI found Sibelius user friendly and easy. I guess it depends on your bent towards that sort of thing. If you learn the keyboard commands it becomes much easier.

ParticipantTom Bell recently regulated my Camac Athena and did a BEAUTIFUL job on it. He also changed over tuning pegs and added Camac levers to an old Troubadour I I have and he turned it into an elegant little instrument. I highly recommend him. In addition, he is a really nice guy and dependable.

ParticipantDavid, check out this website please. If you are having problems with blurring, don’t blow it off…..please.

ParticipantYes, you can get bifocal contacts, but they are not ideal, and the strings are still hard to focus on. Proper lighting is definitely important!

ParticipantOh and speaking of harp dog….my new pup Briggs came in the tv room last evening with something in his mouth I didn’t recognize……my ergonomic tuning key….with the end chewed off. He has customized it for me. 🙂

ParticipantMy beautiful Kirby (retriever mix) passed away in mid December, and I finally couldn’t stand having a house with no doggie. It was sooooooo bleak and empty without my Kirbs. I know he can never be replaced, but I also know there are a lot of homeless critters out there, and I was a critterless dogmom.

ParticipantIt has a great picture of the 5 of them in February 1954

ParticipantI have it. It’s wonderful. Liz Ilku who played one of the Salzedos was my teacher’s teacher. 🙂 It was given me by Anita Leschied, a harpist in Canada.
