To generate this kind of sounds with the harp, one needs a MIDI-harp.
With a pickup at the harp you can only generate sounds on the basis of frequency changes (reverb, phaser, flanger …and such).

    Hi, Samantha!
from my view the cause of the crack is because the Wood becomes to dry or was too wet when the harp was build. You can see this by the grain structur of the wood which is typical for this Kind of crack.
As other poster did write…get in contact with the harpmaker.

    I think it’s both.
The harps are built by the known and respected harpmaker for Tyrolien harps Peter Mürnseer.
The women who postet this was probably involved in the process of the development of these so-called extra-vacant harps. Of course, in the Basic construction and nature of the Tyrolean harps.

If the problem is sound relatet please search for the so called “proximity effect” on microphones. Only certain microphones are suited for a close-up microphone position.

It is very important to loosen the strings quickly to prevent further damage.

Yes of course it can be repaired.
I do not know about your country-specific warranty but this looks very much acccording to a processing error.

    Hi Mia,
this is not possible to write Music on an app while playing the harp.
At least not under normal circumstances.
This requires a MIDI harp. Each string with a pickup and a converter for translating the string vibration in to a machine language (MIDI)

Witt MID data a software can recognize and understand what the Notation should be.
Think about how should a machine (App) identify which individual notes are played when you for example Play a cluster with 6 tones.

For MIDI-Harp exist two very different ways

Option A: each string just triggers the converter

Option B: In 2006 was my official presentation of the world new MIDI HARP with the advanced technology of frequency recognition …. while the converter detects the exact string vibration and translates the frequency to MIDI data.

I hope his gives you some explantation.

    Sorry for the language…

I’m not from the Industrie but I can say for sure that it is true that the raw string material is beeing rectified to the required Diameter at least it belongs to the manufacturer. But the raw material Comes in much different sizes.
There are different possibilities to do the rectifing.
If this would be not done….the strings overtones wouldn’t Sound good because of the Inequality mass. There is a expression here in Germany its called > a string is not clean with the QUINTout of the 5.<

The Extruder -the machine who produces the Line- don’t care if it is used for fishing or stringing Instrument or toothbrush. It’s all up on big coils.

And, if you go over to the Tennis People you might find the carbon.

Thanks to all of you for the kind comments.
Yes, I built this small harp “IONA” for Christine.
28 String from A – g”’ and very lightweight only 4 kg (8.8 pounds). But with a very good string tension. Yes it is possible if you select the Wood very carefull for its best structure I took this model about 5 months ago out of my harp line because the demand was too much.

    Hi Jeffrey,
Not as a neighbor…but see it as a friend’s opinions and suggestions.
First I believe that your decision for an electric harp will meet the best your needs.
You will be most free of any feedback problems.
For the different brand of harp manufactures I think you can use the harp you like.
If it comes to sound…you will find very different sound of the different harps.
The best pickups are used with the L&H harps. These pickups are each hand selected and measured to fulfill the needs. It is different for a string at the top with a string tension of 4 kg and a string tension of 20 Kg at the bass. I do not like the preamplifikation very much L&H uses. This doesn’t bring up all the potential of the pickup.
The Camac harp I have seen some years ago was even not shielded and the circuit board was very much the way I would call homemade. I don’t know if the newer one are made still this way.

Since I build myself electric harps I can only say to compare the different sounds and you will hear different worlds. I use for my electric harps the same pickup as L&H do…but I use a different preamplifikation.
When it comes to electric harps customer only see the two big manufacturer …but there are other also. And no I do not sale harps to oversea.
Here is a YouTube link my wife playing an electric harp made by workshop as you can hear this is a way different.

    Hallo Angela,
from your post I do not see which range of your harp will be restrung with Carbon strings.
Of course the Carbon string have extreme durability.

Because the density and weight of the carbon strings is different from nylon, they are much thinner in relation with equal tension (as nylon). Approximately 22 % less in diameter

It feels especially very sharp in the treble on the fingers.
Carbon has its best use when changing the deeper area of the harp.
Where nylon becomes too thick and inflexible.

    Nylon = 0.60 = carbon = 0.47 mm
    Nylon = 0.66 = carbon = 0.52 mm

In this case, the tension of Nylon and Carbon is equal by a given tone.

If one exchanges 0,60 mm Nylon with carbon 0.60 mm, it has correspondingly higher Tension on the string.

Many do not consider this when changing strings.

I would believe the “all in one” Zoom H-4N could be the one you need.
    Take a search for it.

    Consider the following
A harp has been played by a real professional player and after some time the harp is fully “broken in”
Now a beginning harpist is getting this harp.
After a very short time the harp will lose the “broken in” and will fall back to the level of the beginning harpist.

Also this happen to all instruments….they lose there “broken in” when not being played.

A harp can also sound different to the owner if just one hour a different harpist was playing that instrument.

What I wanted to say is that the “broken in” of a harp is a very, very personal thing and depends of the possibility of the player.
    “Broken in” have two sides…
The harp potential…has to come out
The player …has to do it.
The harps “broken in” can be only as good as the harpist is able to bring the full harp potential to the world.
