Hello all! I am new to the forum and thought I would start a post 🙂 I live in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island in BC, Canada. There is a group here in Canada called Winter Harp and they are coming here next month. I am excited to check it out, but was wondering if anyone else has heard of them before and if so, how was it?
I absolutely love them! I have never spoken to Lori personally, but we exchanged several e-mails a few years ago, and she was very nice to “speak” with. I had asked her about a specific harp she was using during performances. Watch their Avalon video on line from the movie, and listen to their clips. I own most of their CD’s, and they are worth every penney. If I were in Canada during one of their performances, you couldn’t keep me away!!!! Sherj
Go…. And take as many friends as you can. These performances are superb. They are nuanced as an elegant pageant – not just a harp concert. Lori devotes a whole year of planning to each season. You will have never seen anything as lovely as this. Winterharp has a huge following and tickets usually sell fast.
They are wonderful. They performed at the 11th World Harp Congress in Vancouver and had a very enthusiastic response from the audience. Also, get in touch with Marilyn Rummel, who was on our WHC Organizing Committee. She lives on Vancouver Island and is planning a harp festival there in February.
Jade, in Powell River,Vancouver Island, B.C. the NYC harpist Rita Costanzi, formerly of North Vancouver, is offering the International Pacific Harp Academy in June 2013. It is geared toward college age and older harp professionals.
