My budget is up to $1000 to buy a 22 string lap harp, what do you folks recommend?
I recommend a Stoney End Brittany or Eve.
It seems to me that there aren’t as many harp builders making 22 string as there used to be due to the popularity of 26-27 string therapy harps.
With in your price range, I’d recommend either Music Makers or Stoney End.
thanks, I will give it a whirl
I just built myself a 22 string pvc harp, which took forever and a day to build and I am having a heck of a time tuning it
I thought I would save money ha ha, time is money…
ok, how many levers do you think I need to play folk music?
I can speak regarding Irish traditional (as that’s what I play): you definitely need F & C levers, and if you can afford it, B levers.
Those three would get you pretty far in most Irish traditional music.
Please let the bottom string of a 22-string harp be 1 octave below middle C, so the left hand will have enough to do in bass clef!
I love my 22-string Blevins Lyra. Great sound for a little harp!
Say more about your Lyra, please, Tonie — that one’s been tempting me for a while.
Mine’s fully levered in Cherry wood.
CHeck out the Marini family’s LAPHARP.
