    So I am looking for a used pedal harp and have read various descriptions of what’s been done to restore vintage harps. Some of those say “plates polished”. Does this mean those plates were brass? According to the L&H site, plates are now made of stainless steel. Was this a matter of economics and would this affect the weight of the instrument?

    Nope, they’re still brass:

    Thanks, guess I was mis-interpreting “seven layers of stainless steel linkage”

    That’s the actual action itself, inside the brass plates, the bars that move the discs on the outside.

    The issue is who did the restoration work and the quality of their work, as well as the quality of the original instrument.
