Very advanced repertoire for lever harp (cross posted)

I am seeking classical repertoire for a very advanced harpist. I have

been directed to Barbara Brundage’s “Claire de Lune” and “First

Arabesque.” I would be grateful for any other suggestions.

Anita, You can e-mail: music@trinitycollege.co.uk for “Strings syllabus including Guitar and Harps.” This has lists of what is required at Trinity College, London, for a non-pedal harpist to pass from Grade 1 to 8, and then the Performer’s Certificate. A new Syllabus was available January 2004. At the Performer’s Certificate level you would find literature such as the Toccata by Paradisi (arr. Perrett); Handel’s Air and Variations (ed. Bouchaud);Nocturne by Snell;Telnn by Houdy (pub. Salvi);Bergamasca by Sweelinck (ed. Bouchaud) and so on.In the previous Grade 8 are listed Handel’s Concerto Op.4 No.6 (pub. Salvi);Pajaro Campana by Ortiz; Vibrations by Keller (pub. Billaudot);Several Scarlatti Sonatas (ed. Bouchaud) and so on. I hope this helps!

Can you be more specific about very advanced? What was the last repertoire studied? There is a vast amount of music possible.

As I’m sure you have noticed, some harp music distributors (like lyon and healy and vanderbilt, among others) have graded their harp music, so it helps you get a better idea of how hard the music is.

I have written three short pieces for lever harp, which form a suite. They are: Spring in

Vancouver, Fall in Vancouver, and The Downstairs Spider. Spring, in particular, requires

advanced technique. They have been performed by Joanne Pearcy’s and Wendy

Humphreys-Tebbut’s students during Canada Music Week, and I have performed them on

three occasions, all to very warm response. If you are interested, they are $10 for the
