    Recently I noticed that some of the sound I was hearing from an instrument with an undersized hard birch soundboard was coming from the riser on which it stood. When not resting on the table, the harp doesn’t thow out as much sound. Now I am wondering: is it common for a harpist or harper to resort to sound conduction to, and radiation from, a table or floor?

    The resonating chamber at the base of the harp was one of the deciding factors when I chose my Aoyama 140D lever harp.
