    Another very good way to check your tuning is to test the note in question by playing it in triads. Use it in three triads, as the root, third and fifth to make sure it sounds right in each key.

    Tuning by ear is slow, laborious, and an outmoded skill, but there are still situations in which it comes in quite handy!
