The perfect harp car is the Volvo V70. That’s all there is to it

Even though this is an old thread, here’s my two cents’ worth – our harpmobile is a 2002 Ford Windstar.

Any experiences with the Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen? The 2009 model seems able to fit a concert grand harp.

For me, the perfect harp car is the Honda Element. I just bought an ’07 still under warranty, and the harp fits both with the seats flipped up to the sides and with the seats flat. Not only does it hold the harp and all its accoutrements, but it also is a wonderful car to drive…..and you really can sleep in it if you need to (and if it’s not too cold outside. 🙂

I heard that a CG would fit in a Matrix but do you have to fold the seat down????

Do you think that my Daphne 46 will fit without having to fold the seat down??

What do you mean, Michelle Marie? The back seat down–yes, of course. The passenger’s seat in the front, no.

My Aberdeen 36 fits nicely in my Corvette!

Has anyone tried a secondhand hearse?

OK, if anyone wants “hearse room” without the negative connotations, and if you don’t mind getting between 18-23 mpg, drive a Ford Flex. It’s just a terrific car!

I have a Honda Oddessy (rather my parents do) and it is absolutely terriffic! The back seats fold down into the trunk. Our music group manages to fit my 2 harps (a style 85P and a 4 octave celtic harp), a guitar, a french horn, a violin, a flute and oboe, and then all of our music and music stands and all 6 of us in the car! It’s actually not that crowded when all of us are in there. It’s a fantastic car and the gas consumption is amazing!

Can you fit a concert grand in it? I heard that wouldn’t work.

Yes you can actually. I had to borrow my teacher’s Style 23 Lyon&Healy harp for a concert, and we did fit it in by putting all the back seats down, and then taking 1 of the middle seats down. And even then there was still a lot of room.

Sorry Phoebe. I was responding to the Ford Flex post. I know you can fit harps easily into an Odyssey.
