I keep my harp in my bedroom, maybe a little too close to the bed..what a fright when I had a string break in the middle of the night! I must have jumped 5 feet in the air!

Oh wow. That reminds me of the time I used to rent a Troubadour harp from a high school. I used to keep the harp in my bedroom where I covered it up for the night. One time, during the first days of having that harp, I woke up in the morning to uncover the harp only to find a broken string plaguing the harp. It must have broke in the middle of the night when I was sleeping and I didn’t hear a thing. Must have been a heavy sleeper back then. Otherwise, I would’ve woken up to the sound of the string breaking off.

That sounds like jealous harp syndrome to me…ha ha! Where was your cello when this happened? Seriously, I hope you enjoy your cello and your harp. One of the aspects of playing harp I enjoy most is my involvement with a couple of groups to play with. Is there anything like that near you for either instrument?

What I really miss is when I used to play with my daughter and my husband, I wish they would regain their interest in music.

I’ve heard that unwelcome sound in the middle of the night too.
