Stoney End Brittany?

Hello!

I’m getting a lap harp, and have narrowed my choices to a Christina Therapy Harp or a Stoney End Brittany. I know that the Christina probably has a little lighter tension and is a taller harp, but weighs a little less than the Brittany. My question is for those of you who have the Brittany: Apparently the harp is too short for a lap bar, or a lap bar doesn’t really work with it, so you just hold it on your lap. I currently am using a loaner lap harp without a bar and it’s a pain in the butt to balance on my leg while I’m trying to play. It’s shaped funny, though, and I wasn’t sure if the Brittany would be better? For those of you who are familiar with this lap harp, is it difficult to manage without a lap bar?

I have a Brittany and it was the harp I used while working on my MHTP certification. My solution was to put a strap on it and hang it from my right shoulder. It is so easy to transport that way when moving from patient to patient or playing in a nursing home. It frees one to be able to walk around and play. I used a guitar strap. It also helps when sitting as one can adjust the strap. Let us know what you decide.

I use a “Le Stik” from Blevins. It’s not perfect but it works pretty well. You’ll need to custom order as the standard isn’t quite tall enough.
