One thing I’ve noticed when I play–I so easily become absorbed in the instrument. In contrast (-perhaps to some degree because of my familiarity with them) to other instruments–woodwinds, certainly; free reeds, yes; and even guitar. But the harp is so intimate–both hands caressing strings with equal temperament…and at my novice level my sight must be focused squarely upon the strings for visual reference. Other instruments–I can gaze here or there, sometimes allowing my concentration to wander. Not so with harp–it demands my careful attention.
