I recently acquired a 34-string Salvi Heather, which I understand was only made for a few years (maybe early 90’s).

If I recall correctly the Heather is a fairly short harp with pedal harp gauge strings?

    Hi Robin,

The Salvi Heather is strung in wire starting at the 5th octave E, according to http://www.harp.com.

I bought a used 12 y/o Salvi Heather last year. I’m not sure why there are so many wires. I use a Prelude in my lessons and I’m beginning to think I prefer the sound of gut, at least in the upper 5th octave. However, my teacher liked the fact that the Heather has so many wires,

I also meant to ask, has the finish on your Heather cracked at all? Over the past 6 mo I have noticed some minor cracking and bubbling in the finish.

There is considerable finish-checking on the sound board if that’s what you mean.
