Resonance (St Petersburg) pedal harps

Has anyone got one? Played one?

What is the sound like. And the build quality and longevity like please?

I’m hoping to move to a pedal harp, probably a smallish one (40/41 strings). I just play for my own amusement and with friends, so don’t exactly need a concert grand. And I’ll be moving it on my own, so the lighter the better.

There is now a stockist of these harps in the UK, so they’re a possibility for me. But the shop is hours away, and anyway, however nice it sounded on the day wouldn’t tell me much about living with it.

Would be interested in folks’ experience of them. Thanks

Hello Jaydg,

My, those look like lovely harps! I have never heard of them before, so I’m afraid I cannot be of much help. However, I would recommend the Camac Clio pedal harp, 44 strings, as an alternative that I do know about. I do not know what your situation is in the UK, but maybe you could travel to a store that has Camacs, in order to check them out. Anyway, it would be well worth checking out any harp you wish to purchase in-person, if possible.

Yes, the Clio looks lovely, and I like Camac, my lever harp is a Korrigan. Still, finding one will be the issue.

I’m going to look at a Pilgrim Malvern, hopefully tomorrow. It’s 47 strings, but smallish, 31kg (69 lbs) and 178cm (70″) tall. Will see what I think about the size – as well as the sound obviously.

At least it’s under three hours away.

And I bought the Pilgrim Malvern. It’s really lovely.

Omg, I’ve got a pedal harp 😯.

Just need to learn to use those pedals now. Fortunately it doesn’t feel too different to play otherwise.

I enjoyed looking at Pilgrim’s website. I saw the wonderful endorsement by the great David Watkins. The photos of the Malvern and also the other models they make look beautiful. I know you love this harp! What a great Christmas present for yourself, just in time!
