If the uneven bit of the string is towards the bottom reversing it may well put it up above the nut where is it not part of the sounding length and does no harm.

Good advice if it’s a cheaper nylon string, but I think I’d try the reversal trick on say, a $35.00

I’ve got one gut strung harp, one carbon fiber, and one with nylon strings.
