The deep freeze has hit the Great White North! There have been reports of power outages, and while we have usually been very fortunate in that regard, it got me to wondering. What should I do for my harps if the power goes out? Loosen the strings? Cover it up?
It’s something I’m worried about too… We’re supposed to get an ice storm tonight and when that happens the power goes out usually… (last time it was out for a week!)
I guess I’ll have to move it into the room with the fireplace and woodburning stove…
A Dampit could be useful to help with drying out during a power outage when your electric humidifier isn’t working. If you’re not familiar with Dampits, an internet search should take you right to their page and where to buy them. Many music stores that sell string instrument supplies have them.
We don’t have a fireplace, so I guess the best I could do is cover them up. If we were to end up in a hotel, I’d probably take me favorite harp with me – just to be safe!!!
