Pretty Pedal Harps??

I am looking to purchase a semi-grand pedal harp mainly for the purpose of playing at weddings and special events. Because I will be playing mainly for the casual listener, I am looking for a harp that is very visually appealing. I want to buy new, and my max price is $20,000. I have looked at and played the Salvi Daphne series and Arion, as well as Lyon and Healy’s Chicago and 85 series. However, none of these struck me as being very “pretty.” I don’t mind trying different brands. Any suggestions for a “pretty” pedal harp?

Look at a pre WW2 Wurlitzer or L&H. My harp looks like the ones played for princesses in fairy tales.

It was also less than $20,000.

The Wurlitzers are stunning! But have to admit that I am afraid of buying used. How old was your harp when you purchased it?

Have a look at the Venus Classic Special – that’s the ornate carved roses one but in a semi-grand size – one of our San Antonio folks has one – if your playing at events will be acoustic only, I would suggest the new soundboard – another of our folks here has a Cherub with that soundboard and it puts out the sound quality and volume of a concert grand –

I don’t know why you’re afraid of buying used. If you find a used instrument you like, then have a technician you trust look it over. I have a semi-grand Wurlitzer that I just finished rebuilding that is going up on my web site in another week and which I will be showing at the New York Conference in early July. It’s in superb condition and has carved and gilded decoration that is just stunning.
