Pedal harp method

Hi!
I have been playing the lever harp for over 10 years but as I have a big birthday this year I have decided to treat myself to a pedal harp. Only issue is, there are next to no pedal harp teachers where I live in the far North of Scotland. I have been largely self taught thus far on lever harp, so I plan to at least learn the basics from youtube and from books.
I do have a friend who plays, but she has developed MES and so doesn’t like to play anymore.
Is there a particular method book specifically for pedal harp to help me get going?

There are lots of method books out there, teaching different methods of playing the harp. But you can’t learn technique with a method book alone. You need a teacher who can explain the method and guide you. I’ve never taught video lessons, but that seems to be quite popular. Given that you are having such a hard time finding a teacher, I would suggest you try video lessons with someone. You should start by lining up a teacher first to teach you, using some sort of video hookup, and then let the teacher suggest the book you should use.

How far north are you? Sunita Staneslow lives on an island north of Scotland and is an excellent harpist. I recommend the Salzedo/Lawrence Method as it is concise, has excellent photos and exercises. Fortunately, Scotland is not so terribly large that you can’t travel to a teacher at least once a month.
