    Hello
I run a youth orchestra (The Westmoreland Youth Orchestra) in Kendal, North West UK. We have two harpists and I was looking for something that the students could play. Even if they are quite advanced, I found it difficult to find something that was easy enough for them and that used the whole orchestra (including woodwinds, brass and percussion), so… I wrote a 5 minute piece. Below is a link to the score and a computer generated recording.

If anyone would like to play it, let me know and I will send you the material (might ask for a small donation…).

I called it a “Christmas Celebration” as its for our Christmas concert this year, but it could be played any time of the year, here are no Christmas songs in it! Fredrik Holm – fredrik.intune@gmail.com

You can double harp parts so they can both play. I think you could add a harp part to Fingal’s Cave by Mendelssohn. His Overture to Athalia has a nice harp part. All harp parts are difficult for first-year orchestra players. I would not recommend ones with long periods of rests, and cadenzas. The Poet and Peasant Overture is good. Faure’s Pelleas et Melisande is great.
