    Hi All,

    I recently happened upon a large collection of old music at a garage sale and lo and behold there was harp music!

    It probably means either to play pres de la table (if it’s like a long trill) or low on the strings but not right at the soundboard if if its more open (probably what you mean by the sawblade).

    Pres de la table above the treble means right hand plays down, between the staves, both hands, and below the bass staff is left hand only.

    There are several books explaining the notation symbols for harp.The largest so far, just under 140 pages written in 1985 and perhaps updated since then, is “Writing for the Pedal Harp” by Inglefield and Neill, and includes a recording where a harpist demonstrates the many symbols in the book. Not only symbols commonly used, but variants are also included, as well as information on amplification and other harp issues.An extensive bibliography, and index
