MemberDoes anyone have a copy of this? Miss Bride played it at the conference last July. I’ve been trying to get a copy, but I can’t find it anywhere.

ParticipantI don’t know about that particular edition, but I would guess it’s “Fileuse”:

If you aren’t sure if it’s the same, here’s a youtube of someone playing it:

If you want Kathleen Bride’s edition, I would contact her and ask her about it.

ParticipantYou may be looking for the wrong composer. Zabel’s Marguerite au Rouet is op 19 – is this the right piece?

ParticipantTacye,
That’s what I was thinking!
I have a copy of this piece. I’ll try to find it and see who the arranger is.June 11, 2013 at 5:39 pm #61671Jerusha Amado
ParticipantI just found my copy. It’s called “Marguerite au rouet” op. 19. The composer is Zabel, and the arranger is Annie Louise David.

ParticipantFaust’s sorrowful Marguerite at her spinning wheel is the inspiration for many pieces. Grandjany’s ‘Fileuse’ is another piece on the same subject, but you’re both right that Zabel’s is op.19. I don’t know the opus number for the Grandjany piece.

ParticipantFileuse is his opus 39

ParticipantLooking at the conference programme here: http://www.ahsconference.org/Default.aspx?pageId=1137691
I find:

ParticipantI wonder how Annie Louise’s version differs from Grandjany’s?

MemberYes, Zabel but an arrangement by Marcel Grandjany. I am looking for the one edited by K. Bride. I will reach out to her again. Thanks!

ParticipantPersonally, I wonder how these arrangements vary from Zabel’s original!

ParticipantThere are two Marguerite pieces, republished by Salvi publications. A) Marguerite au Rouet op19 and B) Marguerite Doulereuse au Rouet (no2) op26 – so she obviously became much sadder when he wrote the 2nd piece !! £7.50 and £9.50 wrong side of the pond. Alison
