Lyon & Healy Prelude 40

Hi,

I have a friend that is interested in purchasing this harp. Any opinions? She really would like more feedback before she buys. Thanks to all!

If the pedal harp look and sound is what she wants in a lever harp, I think it’s the best way to go. I own a Prelude 38, and tried some Prelude 40’s. The 40’s model is really nice. It’s a sturdy instrument, and often times they have a big sound. The only ones I have tried out were brand new though, so their sound was still quite green, but they seemed like they would probably mature nicely.

Thanks to all who have so far posted! My friend has been on and checked out your comments. It’s great that we got some good responses so quickly. I have a feeling she will be getting this harp soon, and I will have a chance to run my fingers across the strings (pretty please?)

I hope you do, Karen, because you will fall in love, and then you will have to buy the harp, and then you will neglect all your other harps, and they will be jealous, and break all their strings just to get your attention.

But naaah-

My true love is a Heartland Dragonheart, which I will hopefully be ordering sometime this spring. I’m not the pedal harp type- I think they are beautiful, but I prefer the look and sound of a Celtic harp. But it will be fun to get to play around with this one! (I hope)

I had a Prelude, and it was a wonderful harp. It made the transition to pedal harp very, very simple. Great sound, too!
