The St. Olaf Chapel Choir and the St. Olaf Harp Ensemble will be performing Valeri Kikta’s “La Luce delle Tacite Stelle” on Sunday evening (7:30 central), April 18th. It will be streamed live on the internet and archived for later listening.

You can hear and watch it here:

Look for Spring Oratorio, Chapel Choir. You need to get the free download Adobe Flash Player.

This amazing work is lots of fun to play. 6 harp parts! Lots of extended technique: Thunder gliss and vibrato, etc. St. Olaf College (Minnesota) has fabulous choirs and it is a great honor to play with them.

I know it was performed in Salt Lake City a few years ago. Anywhere else?

Who are all the harpists performing?

A similar work is Universal Prayer by Andrzej Panufnik, which has, I think, three harps with organ and vocal soloists.

Harp students (none of which is a harp major!) from the college.

It was also performed in Grasse, France a couple of years ago. I filmed that and put it on Youtube but the quality isn’t great. A wonderful piece, though!
