I am playing Isle of the Dead by Rachmaninoff this coming week. I have average-length arms, but some of the right-hand notes are beyond my reach. I had to move some notes into the left hand, and do other things to make this part work. Heaven help harpists with shorter arms! Much of this part is in the bottom register, and is quite exposed. Anyway, I have made some adaptations, so if anyone has this part and is wondering how on earth to play it, just message me and I’ll tell you what I did.

Sometimes you can set the harp down on the floor in order to reach the lowest strings more easily, or get up from your bench.
