Hello:

I was given your info in a lead, to see if you could help me, with information about this harp. (Photos below)

My cousin had this harp made in Houlton, Maine USA. Maybe around 1995.

When I Google Maine and harp makers, I get a fellow by the name of Jay Witcher. His number is now Disconnected.

I cannot find any paperwork on this harp, there is also no name on the harp that I can see. Would anyone have a record of the people that bought harps from this gentleman. I can’t imagine there would be more than one harp maker in Maine.

My questions are:

Would you have any idea how much it would be worth?
What type of wood is it?
What kind of harp is it?

Any information, would be greatly appreciated.

No. Have you checked the size of the photo you’re attaching, it has to be quite small, 512 KB max.

It is probably by Jay Witcher, yes; the other harp maker in Maine whom I know is Fred Gosbee (company name Castlebay). Fred and his wife Julia are primarily recording artists but he is also an accomplished harp maker. It is worth mentioning that there are quite a few like Fred who will some times make a harp for a friend/acquaintance although it is not their primary business.

Assuming though that this is a Witcher it is difficult to make a valuation just based on a picture even if that had loaded successfully. I suggest taking it to a harp maker near you for that anyway, if there is one, since a lot can happen to a harp over 15 years.
