I finally can afford a harp at last!

Hi everybody! I hope you’re enjoying a great Christmas. I’m posting not to ask you for help raising money for the harp anymore. I’m not going to even beg and plea for a harp anymore ever. Nope. Instead I’m posting to tell you that after all these years of struggling, “wishin’ and hopin’, thinkin’ and prayin’ plannin’ and dreamin’, and yearning for a harp. My dream of owning a pedal harp is finally coming true. I finally acclaimed enough money to finance a beautiful Venus Harp!

At long last, I finally got enough money to finance my own harp. I know right now the Venus harp factory and showroom is closed. But when the holidays are over with and the factory is open again, I’ll take my money and use it to order either a beautiful Venus Classic, Encore, or Traditional Harp from W&W Venus Harps for a very sweet deal. Once I get my harp, I’ll post photos of it on this site. Stay tuned.

I can only afford financing a used $10,000 Venus Harp such as the Encore, the Classic, or the Traditional. If I go higher and try to finance a $20,000, then I’ll end up paying too much and I can’t afford to pay too much on monthly payments. I’d rather make the $150-$120 monthly payments on a Venus Harp than make $200-$300 monthly payments on them. I’m looking into Harps Unlimited International as I speak but I need more of where to look to afford financing a $10,000 Venus Harp through Allegro Acceptance. Does anyone know where else I can go to finance a $10,000 Venus Harp?

Update: I’m choosing to finance the Venus Seraphim instead. Especially when it cost $9,950 and I have the $950 to put down towards that kind of harp. I’ll give myself time to think about this. When I’m certain that this is the harp I want, I’ll get a hold of Wally and talk to him about building for me the Venus Seraphim in a natural finish. I want a Venus harp and I’m going to get a one and own one! They are awesome!

Update: Unfortunately I ran into problems with the financing. When I tried to apply for a loan, I was turned down due to not having enough credit to get a financial loan so I can buy a harp let alone have the money to make the financial payments. I’ll have to increase my income so I can have enough to go buy a harp and succeed in paying it all off. *sigh* Looks like it’s back to raising money for the harp again. 🙁

Update: Due to the cost of monthly payments and the fluctuation of rates. I decided to give up attempting to finance a harp and instead choose the rent to own harps instead. I can only afford renting a pedal harp for around $150 a month and I know that Carl Swanson allow people to rent to own his harps for that amount. But only for small pedal harps like the one Wurlitzer #914 I’m looking at now. Has only 42 strings, is as tall as me (about 5.6 feet) and said to be light for me to carry. I can take it to various places to do gigs and stuff. Because of the great deal on pedal harp rentals I decided to go with Carl and partake in his program.

I sent an email to Carl asking what kind of harps that’s available for rent to own. My ideal for a harp is a 46-47 string harp with an extended soundboard, no major flaws at all (why should it have flaws with Carl around bring a great pro at fixing, repairing, and restoring harps?), and in a natural finish. I’m hoping that other than what is shown on his site, he’ll have a much better selection for me to choose which harp that’s just right for me and I can afford to pay $150-$200 a month without breaking the bank. It may not be Venus, but at least I’ll have a chance to afford renting and eventually buy a great harp to love and cherish for a long, long time.

Otherwise, I’ll still continue to search for a great Venus Harp to rent with the option to buy coming from Harps Unlimited International which I’m getting a hold of right now and asking to see if those behind HUI have any Venus Harps in their showrooms and some of them do. So I’m waiting for them to send photos to me so I can find out what Venus Harp models do they have at their showrooms and help me decide which harp to get and how the program is to be set up so I can afford making the monthly payments. I don’t really want to get a small pedal harp anyway. My actual preference is A Venus Harp with 46-47 strings, extended soundboard, and is in a natural finish with perhaps some bronzing in some spots.

I dunno Sherry the way I see it beggars can’t be choosers and if I muster up enough money for a klunker of a pedal harp that will do just fine, the real challenge is getting good enough to play the stuff I want on it, Granjany’s Bach etudes for example, no sense in breaking the bank in the meantime.

There is something to be said for renting, particularly if somebody has very little down for a purchase. The interest on a loan of $15,000 would be very close to a rental payment, and the loan payments can go on for years if the borrower doesn’t have a lot of disposable income.

And smaller harps are a very reasonable route. A lot of makers and sellers offer trade-ins later and their range is sufficient for most casual playing. And they can be much easier to move with their size and weight.
