I almost became a victim of a scam!

Long time no see, guys. Guess what? within the past several days I’ve been receiving an email coming from a pushy scammer that insisted that I take a cashier’s check and get it cash in and then I have to send them lots of money so they can send a shipper over to pick up a Lyon & Healy Shipping Box that I was selling here on this site…

..and leave me with fraudulent money. But thanks to my local bank and the post office that blocked off all the cashier’s checks allegedly sent from CitiBank for all the right reasons, I ended being onto his scheme.

I told him flat out that the deal is off just when they gave me a suspicious PayPal email address to deposit fake money to when the bank balance is updated. Then I started blocking his email and phone number when the scammer started posting whiny text messages with bad English and typo errors. He never even answered certain questions correctly and avoided answering questions about his address and what kind of pedal harp he has. All this and being pushy about delivering cashier’s checks in a very short amount of time and frequently checking back to see if I got the check and have it cashed in where all red flags that tells me that the scammer wasn’t interested in the box at all. He just wanted to rip me off and leave me with no money at all in my bank account.

If he ever tries to send me a check once more, I’ll rip it up and throw it away. He can just go without the box or the cash. I’ll get rid of the box somewhere else.

BTW. I put Sold on the advertisement assuming I found a buyer of the box only to discover that the buyer is nothing more than a spammer.

This will remind me never to post anything like that again on this website. I’ll never know who’s going to respond to my classified ad.

I am sorry that you almost got scammed. Please do not place any blame on Harp Column, and I do hope you will feel free to post things here again. Since you were selling the harp box, does that mean that you recently got a new harp? How exciting, and congratulations if you did!

I actually ordered just an empty box from Lyon & Healy. I did it just in case I had to send my harp “Grover” to another state. I didn’t have to because I found someone from Grand Rapids, MI who was willing to fix him. And he fixed him great! Therefore, I didn’t need the box anymore. So I got rid of it.
