    Hi everyone!

Simple question that probably has a very obvious answer!

Grandjany uses a fingering/symbol in his version of the CPE Bach Sonata: it’s a 4 with a slash through it (rising diagonally from left to right). I couldn’t see an explanation in the “Explication des signes employes’ but since the 4 with a circle around it means ‘4th finger in the position of muffled sounds’ I thought the 4 with a slash through it might mean to muffle with 4th finger in closed or normal position. I have no idea if this is on the right track.

    Any ideas?

    cheers :-)

    Clare
