Can different nylon string numbers from e.g. Bowbrand be interchanged?

e.g. Can a bowbrand nr KNY12 (0.65 diameter A la) be used instead of a
nr KNY15 (0.65 diameter E mi) to string the E mi string on a lever harp?
The tickness (and colour) of the string is the same. Are there other characteristics of the string preventing this?

    Thanks for your help,

    Danny

I do this with gut – buy both lever and pedal gauge Cs and Fs for the colour but usually string harps that need lever gut with pedal gut in a different position. I don’t want to buy or keep more strings than I need to.
