Harp programs, schools, or intensives ?

I am considering, after I graduate school in about a year and a half (I am studying herbal medicine right now- oh how I miss all the time I used to have to practice harp!) to spend some chunk of time, anywhere from a few months to a few years, really focusing on harp, as if it were college- really studying it, practicing it, developing with it. I’ve only played for about a year but I feel a drive to focus on beginning to come into my full potential for the kind of harpist I could be someday. Are there any Harp Schools that run for a substantial amount of time and are preferably in the mid-west? (I’m from Nebraska and right now living in Colorado).
I’m looking for something really focused, really intensive, yet reasonably affordable, to help propel me into being a better harpist, and to also meet other young harpists. I’m 19 right now. Thank you for any suggestions!

Thanks for the suggestion! It does look cool, but I see that the program is only for one week, and I’m hoping for something that’s a month or two long at the least.

Lauren, it sounds as though you really miss harp, but will not be free to study harp intensively until you graduate from the course you are in now. In Colorado there are many fine harp teachers and so private lessons with one of these, even every two weeks, would likely be possible, still leaving time for your present homework. Colorado is a big state, so it seems to me that a contact with a harp store in Denver, Kolacny’s

If you are looking to devoting a few years to harp studies, I would suggest going to a university with a music program. There are many scholarships available for harpists. In fact, UC Boulder has a great music school and you would get in state tuition. The website that has links to many harp programs is:
