    Hello!

I’m new to posting on these forums (although I do have to admit that I’ve done my fair share of lurking!), and I’m hoping for a suggestion or two. In a few weeks I’ll be moving across the country to the northwestern NJ area, and am very interested in picking up a few gigs on the side. I’m hoping to do something like background music at restaurants or play at retirement homes, but I don’t have much experience in this arena (I played background music for a Valentine’s Day dinner at a restaurant this year, but that’s it). I’m wondering if there are other harpists in the area I could connect with, as I’m not sure what to charge and I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes.

Any information at all would be very helpful – finding gigs is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time but have been held back by stage fright, which I am determined to get over.

    Thanks for reading!

Welcome to NJ! I recommend joining the North Jersey Chapter of the American Harp Society as a terrific way to become a part of the thriving harp community in NJ. Contact the secretary, Mia, to be added to the mailing list. Membership applications will be e-mailed in about a month. montclairdiva@gmail.com
