Delacour levers

Hi there,

I’m after any info regarding delacour levers. I’m about to order a harp shortly and had my mind set on having camac levers installed but now the choice of having delacour levers is now an option and I’m just not sure. I guess I’m looking for some feedback ( positive or negative) regarding this new lever system. They don’t look as nice as the camac in my opinion, but the less wear and tear on the strings seems appealing to me and also the ease of flipping they claim to have. Any thoughts welcome 🙂

Ideally, you should have a chance to try them out side by side on the same model of harp. I guess that’s not an option?

The link Barbara provided is helpful in hearing people opinions but not really any info from someone who has them. Also, the post originated over 2 years ago so perhaps someone might have something more useful and concrete to offer. I am having a custom Pratt Chamber harp built at this very moment and John Pratt uses Camac levers but I was intrigued by the delacours as a possibility. However, despite my research, I could not come up with much info. Thanks for posting your question…I look forward to some solid responses.

Thankyou Barbara for the link and I have read it but I agree with Karen, I am searching for some updated info and hopefully get some feedback from recent happy delacour customers 🙂 or non happy 🙁 It’s an open posting for positive or negative.

And yes to Jessica, It would be ideal to try them next to another but the problem is that it isn’t an option 🙁 It would be a risk I would have to take and I’m not quite sure whether it is worth the risk.
Even if you don’t have delacour levers on your harp but you have an opinion please feel free to post. I’m open for as much information as I can get at this point.

I certainly can’t speak for anyone else who participated in that thread, but for me, my opinion hasn’t changed one iota since then, so maybe the thread’s not as out of date as you think.

I have Delacour levers on my Fisher Koa Eireann and Camac levers on my Triplett Eclipse.

I like the Delacour levers a bit more as they are easier for me to flip and I think they look nicer than the Camac.

Can I ask what string tension you have on your Koa fisher? Is it folk or concert. The string tension on the harp I will be ordering will be folk tension and apparently the delacours are suppose to be great for lighter tension strings. Just curious as to what your fisher is 🙂 Thanks Janice.

Thanks for the info Kathy, If that happens to be the case and they have stopped production then maybe it just wasn’t meant to be that I get them. Who knows, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. All very interesting all the same.

I’m glad to hear that the rumor is not true then, I’m looking forward to taking a look at the delacours as a possibility for my new harp. It’s good to know. As Kathy stated it was just a rumor she heard and there was no malicious intent in her writing. We’ll let it rest there shall we.
