I’ve been asked to play this piece on a concert with the Debussy and the Bax Elegaic Trio. This is the only one I haven’t played and while I generally love Damase (especially the Sicilienne VarieĂ©) I’m having some trouble with finding a good structure to the piece. Does anyone have any suggestions. I’ve been able to find only one recording and It’s leaves me feeling even more conflicted about the piece.

I love Damase’s harmonies… but they can be tricky pieces. lots of notes! I would listen to his other chamber music pieces as much as possible. It will give you even more insight into his style of writing, harmonic progression, phrasing etc. How quickly do you have to learn the piece? I love his stuff, but it can be meaty.
