Can anyone recommend some excellent contemporary harp pieces that include a lot of special harp effects? The most advanced I have in that regard is Salzedo’s Five Poetic Studies.

William, I am not up-to-date on this subject, but look up Yolanda Kondonassis on the Internet for some ideas!

Salzedo’s Preludes for Beginners in the Method introduce most of them in beautiful music, climaxing with his famous Chanson dans la Nuit. Montsalvatge’s Variations employ several of his colors, albeit in Spanish. Persichetti’s Parable uses them extensively.
