I usually pick mine up by the holes in the back of the soundboard with
my hand on the column to steady it and I have never carried it around any other way (except in a case).

However, at Highland Games last year, they had a special guest play during the evening harp concert.

I usually carry my harp the way you described, with one hand in the back of the harp and one on the column.

Carl Swanson’s book on the pedal harp suggests that you can carry one around column down.

So it’s safe for me to do that with my Troub VI? At nearly forty pounds, it would be more comfortable to carry it that way, since I don’t use a dolly cart.
