I have been asked to perform Britten’s The Burning Fiery Furnace with limited prep time, and I am not familiar with it. Can anyone give me any information about the harp part?

    Thanks in advance!

Ask Lynne Aspnes, she has done a lot of Britten. His parts tend to be very challenging.

This is an opera that will take you a while to wrap your head around.

Thanks everyone for the help! I was assuming it would be challenging considering Britten’s other works, so I don’t think I could possibly have time to learn it in 2 weeks with my other work too. Hopefully, I will get another opportunity with a contractor that notifies me more than 3 weeks in advance!

Maybe we can come up with a communal list of repertoire and the minimum amounts of time that conductors should assume for each piece. It will save them headaches, to be sure.
