Just finished watching the dvd “Claudio Abbado: Hearing the Silence.” There is a clip him conducting the Berlin Philharmonic in April of 1997 with 3 harpists apparently doubling or splitting up the single harp part. Any thoughts?
Could you hear them?
It’s written for 2 harps doubling. But I have played it also with 3 harps, with Harnoncourt and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, it is not unusual.
