    Hi all,

Do you know if a Salvi large base cover will fit a Lyon and Healy 85CG? I hate the L&H base cover – it’s awkward to put on and has nowhere to grab to lift into my car. It looks like the Salvi has a split bottom (like the Camac cover) that would be infinitely easier to handle.

I currently use a Four Seasons base cover that is getting pretty ripped up and would prefer something different.

Or has anyone has grab straps attached to their L&H base cover? I’m trying to find a workable solution so I don’t drop my harp!

    Thank you.

    Hi, Ceci,

I think the Salvi concert grand harps are very similar to your L&H 85CG, both in size and the curvature of their necks. The Salvi transport covers and base covers should fit your harp. Camac harps are enough different, I would not trust that their covers would fit your L&H. I do love my Camac Atlantide Prestige, AND her nice transport cover set!

    Best regards and harp hugs,
    Balfour

Thanks, Balfour! Salvi base seems to be the way to go. But I may go to a shoemaker or luggage repair place to see about attaching a couple hand straps to the L&H first.

Hi Ceci! I’ve tried both the Salvi and L&H covers and eventually went with the L&H covers, although I did get a local shop to put straps on to attach the base cover to the main cover like the Salvi version has. I find it way easier to move the harp around knowing everything is going to stay in one piece. I think I ended up with 6 straps total spread out on either side, but less so at the back so it wouldn’t get in the way of the harp cart. I used a chalk marker to draw out where I wanted them on both the main cover and base cover in various colours to help explain it, and did so while the covered harp was on the cart so I could be sure it wouldn’t get in the way.
