Has anyone worked on this lovely piece?
After playing the harp for many years, it took this piece for me to realize why the harp is so much more difficult to play than the piano.
I think that is what Sam had in mind. When he first went to work at Lyon and Healy (maintenance) he didn’t know how to play the harp. He wrote a series of etudes to each himself the intricacies of playing. My first challenge was the many right hand positions of 4-2-3-1. Ariel, from Midsummer Night’s Dream, flies all over the place at a very fast tempo. It looks so easy – Ha! I’d like to hear from someone else who has worked on it.
