    On my Salvi Egan, the 4th octave G has broken.

    There will be a very slight difference in thickness between any two adjacent strings. But a substitution one string away is OK. Don’t go further than that though, i.e., don’t use a B for a G or visa versa.

    Most harp makers will give you a string chart with all the gauges if you ask for it.
