Zoe Vandermeer recently released her solo soprano and triple harp album, Angel’s Wine: The Songs of John Dowland, on Centaur Records. The recording features songs from Dowland’s First and Second Bookes, A Musical Banquet, and Pilgrim’s Solace. The album takes its name from the opening song, “If that a Sinner’s Sighs be Angel’s Foode,” and concludes with a harp solo performance of Dowland’s instrumental piece “Adew for Master Oliver Cromwell.”
Vandermeer specializes in self-accompanying her singing with triple harp, performing music from the Renaissance, baroque, classical, and early romantic periods, in addition to her own compositions with Celtic and triple harps. A prize winning graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Vandermeer gives soprano and harp performances internationally and has received multiple Global Music Awards, including a silver medal in 2026 for self-accompanying an early 19th-century opera aria on Welsh triple harp. She is a two-time World Harp Competition quarterfinalist for programs featuring her original compositions (2024) and music of the late 18th century (2026). Vandermeer made her operatic debut at Carnegie Hall in 2014 as first place winner of the B. Alexander International Vocal Competition.
