Harpist, composer, and producer Floraleda Sacchi recently released a new album titled Joe Hisaishi by Floraleda Sacchi on the Amadeus Arte label. According to a press release, this recording is a tribute to the Japanese contemporary composer Joe Hisaishi and contains Sacchi’s arrangements of Hisaishi’s compositions, from film music written for movies by Takeshi Kitano and Hayao Miyazaki, to instrumental concert pieces. Violinist Linda Hedlund joins Sacchi for three of the album’s 12 tracks.
“My love for Japan is quite evident since I was a child when my father, who spoke Japanese, used to read me Japanese books and showed me Japanese artworks,” Sacchi says. “Before long, I was listening to Joe Hisaishi’s beautiful music—so transparent and poetic—and I was always wondering why it is not played on harp … I hope you will enjoy my vision and my rendition!”
Sacchi describes herself as “part of a new generation of musicians who go beyond conventions and styles,” with several shows and albums combining classical music with technology and new media. Sacchi has won prizes in 16 competitions—among them a Latin Grammy, “Best Classical Album” category—and has appeared as a soloist all over the world in venues such as Carnegie Hall-Weill Recital Hall, Mozarteum Salzburg, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Konzerthaus Berlin, and many others.
Sacchi’s recordings have sold thousands of copies and reached top positions in the classical music charts.
