Harpists Magdalena Hoffmann, Parker Ramsay, Brandee Younger, and Madison Calley received shout outs from The Washington Post in a recent article titled “Beyond Vivaldi, a classical playlist to bring on the spring.” The April 2 article by Michael Andor Brodeur praises Magdalena Hoffmann for her “beguiling transcription of one of Respighi’s short piano pieces.” Brodeur likens Hoffmann’s transcription of Respighi’s Notturno to Parker Ramsay’s interpretation of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, describing the interpretation as “melodic pluck hovering in vaporous harmony.” Hoffmann currently serves as principal harpist with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and is set to make her Deutsche Grammophon debut next January. Brodeur applauds Ramsay, Younger, and Calley for their ability to find “new expressive and interpretive possibilities for the instrument— as well as thousands of followers.”
