The Harper Trio, led by electric harpist Maria-Christina Harper, has released the first single from its second album Dialogue of Thoughts. In addition to Harper, the trio includes Josephine Davies (saxophone), and Evan Jenkins (drums). Dialogue of Thoughts is available for pre-order in CD, vinyl, and digital formats via Bandcamp and is available to pre-save on major streaming platforms. Recorded at the Abbey Road Studios in London, the album will be released Oct. 24 on Little Yellow Man Records and launched on BBC Radio 3.

Dialogue of Thoughts is a journey through mindfulness, exploring both the effort and ease of finding stillness,” Harper says. “It reflects on personal development and the often-chaotic reality of trying to be present. I describe this album as my mindfulness diary. All tracks on the album are about working towards inner peace.”

Harper describes herself as an avant-garde jazz harpist and composer, influenced by Eastern traditional music and the experimental, free jazz scene. She studied classical harp at the Royal Academy of Music in London and won the first prize at the International Harp Competition in Wales. She has performed in the United Kingdom and Greece at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Jazz in the Round, Athens Concert Hall, and Greek National Opera and has appeared at the Montreal Jazz Festival and the BBC2 British music television show Later… with Jools Holland.

Harper studied music therapy at Roehampton University and works as a music therapist in hospitals and prisons. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Surrey, focusing on music composition and expanding the harp repertoire. She also teaches at Roehampton University in London. Her trio released its debut album, Passing By, in October 2023, with an album launch at the Royal Albert Hall.
