Goodman and Shulman release milestone album

September 1, 2022

Two Canadian musicians, harpist Erica Goodman and flutist Suzanne Shulman, mark 50 years of musical collaboration with their new album, Being Golden. Released July 7 via Wolftone Media, the album is available on Bandcamp.

The album’s centerpiece is a suite the duo commissioned from a friend, Canadian-Scottish composer Eric Robertson. The Rings includes eight movements, the second of which is the title track, “Being Golden.” Robertson’s suite and its accompanying poems by Gary Michael Dault are a reflection on the symbolic rings of relationships over time. The concept is also a nod to the golden wedding anniversary of Shulman and her husband Peter Rosenbaum, who were married in 1970. In addition, the recording includes works from the 1970s by French composers Jacques Bondon and Jean Françaix. Rounding out the album are several works by Maurice Ravel: Pièce en forme de Habanera, the well-known Pavane pour une infante défunte, and Deux melodies hébraïques.
