Australian harpist Jacinta Dennett’s new album, Fable, features music written by Australian women composers across a 66-year span. Released on the Australian record label Move Records, the album is available now in CD format and on digital platforms.
According to a press release, the album’s 12 tracks were chosen to showcase the harp’s wide range of styles, sounds, and expressions, as well as to demonstrate the diverse musical ideas of this group of Australian female composers. Dennett says, “To perform these works by Australian women composers has brought a deeper authenticity and sense of belonging to my work as a performing artist.”
Dennett performs as a concerto soloist and recitalist, as well as an orchestral and chamber musician. She leads harp pedagogy at several Australian institutions: the Australian National Academy of Music, Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, and Monash University. The interests Dennett brings to her music-making include poetry, Feldenkrais, eurythmy, dance, and martial arts.
