The American Harp Society (AHS) has recently announced changes to several upcoming programs and events. The organization said in a press release that the adjustments better align the AHS and World Harp Congress joint event, One Harp World (to be held in Toronto, Ontario, in 2026), and also allow time for the organization to complete its 2025–2030 Strategic Plan during the coming fiscal year.
Realignments to upcoming AHS programming and activities include:
“Deep In The Harp of Texas” Ensemble Festival and Summer Institute
This event has been rescheduled to June 17–20, 2027, allowing more time for schools and other ensembles to plan and fundraise in order to participate. The 2027 Summer Institute, which includes the first AHS Harp Ensemble Festival, will be held at the Marriott Dallas Allen Hotel & Conference Center in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. The event was originally scheduled for June 12–15, 2025.
National Competition
The AHS National Competition will take place as previously scheduled at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, Calif., on May 28–June 1, 2025. All competition rounds and the Winners Recital are open to the public and will be made available online. As the 2025–2027 AHS Concert Artist, the winner of the Young Professional Division at the 2025 National Competition will also perform at One Harp World in Toronto in 2026.
Chapter Ambassadors
The 2024 Chapter Ambassadors will complete their community engagement projects during 2024–2025, having presented their initial work at the 2024 National Conference in Orlando, Fla. The next class of Chapter Ambassadors will present at One Harp World in Toronto in 2026.
Young Composers Project
Plans are underway to incorporate the Young Composers Project, featuring young composers and their work, into the programming at One Harp World in 2026.
