    Now that we have some cool slang names for harps, how about pieces? When I played in the National Ballet Orchestra, we referred to “Swan Lake” as “Hog Pond” presumably because it went from “Swan” to “Swine” and thence to “Hog”. Other gems: “Medication from “Thais””, “Invitation to the Prance”, “Ariadne auf Nachos”.

    Well, there’s always Battered Bride for Bartered Bride, “Rinse the coffee cups” for Rimsky-Korsakov, and Sweeney Todd became Swiney Toad after a few too many nights in the pit…(nope, not playing harp).

    I LOVE it!! And then there’s “The Swines of Rome” by Roast Piggy (Respighi?). And let us not forget Taco Bell’s Canon!

    Another good one, not for a piece but a type of playing: “obligato” = “obble-gobble”.
