Ha ha, with my one and only arrangement. I only did it because I couldn’t find the music anywhere. But really, arranging music is not so difficult, all you need is a good music notation software that allows you to listen to the music as you make it. I use MagicScore Maestro, and can recommend it.
renate-kvalsvikParticipantHey, no problem! I’m just flattered that anybody would want my arrangement.
renate-kvalsvikParticipantHere you go, Deb! I’ve just sent it to you.
renate-kvalsvikParticipantI’ve now e-mailed it to Gloria and Karen (hope you got it, if not, tell me). If anyone else should want it, feel free to ask!
Renate
renate-kvalsvikParticipantWow, so many have commented! You’re all so very kind.
Deb: Yes, it’s a very lovely harp. The only thing is that the levers are made of plastic, and cause quite a lot of buzzing and they can’t be properly regulated (according to a harp technician I spoke to last year). So that’s the only reason I wouldn’t really recommend it. But the price is really nice.
Leslie: Thank you so much! It means a lot to me to have people compliment my playing, and especially when it’s my own arrangement. The harps aren’t all mine, by the way, only the one in Six Ribbons. The pedal harp was one I borrowed over the summer (and reluctantly returned). I’m renting another pedal harp now which I absolutely adore. The next video will be made with that harp.
Karen: Thank you, too! And of course I’ll share the music. I’ll e-mail it to you tonight or tomorrow, but I don’t have it on this computer so I can’t do it right away.
Kay: Thanks a million. It was my very first concert, so I’m glad I was able to hide my nervousness! But I agree that the music stand was awkwardly placed (especially as I didn’t need it).
Gloria: I tried to send you the music. I think you tried to send me an e-mail, but I never got it. I sent you a message on YouTube, but maybe you didn’t get it. Can I send it to the e-mail address on your profile on harpcolumn?
Best regards to you all,
Renaterenate-kvalsvikParticipantThank you! You should get Sylvia Woods’ arrangement of Beauty and the Beast, which has an easy and an advanced version. I’m playing the advanced version, but the easy one is really nice as well. In the Six Ribbons video I’m playing my Hempson 34 lever harp, from Morley harps.
renate-kvalsvikParticipantI have a few videos:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_89Jye7EZJE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUo93PJfbX4All are filmed with the same camera, which doesn’t give the best sound quality, but you can clearly hear the difference between the harps!
renate-kvalsvikParticipantThanks, everyone!
renate-kvalsvikParticipantFor anyone who wanted to see my little beauty, here she is 🙂
renate-kvalsvikParticipantMine is the scrolltop model. Very beautiful. I’ve finally brought it home now, and must confess I’m too fond of it already… 🙂
renate-kvalsvikParticipantLike I said, I have no idea how old it is, nor does my teacher. When were they made? If there were only about 100 made, then maybe “my” Angelica is as old as the rest of them.
I really love that harp, and I haven’t even brought it home yet!renate-kvalsvikParticipantI’ve played what is probably the student version of the Angelica, and will be renting it as of tomorrow (super excited about that, by the way!). It is, in my opinion, a lovely harp, though it has only 40 strings (I’m not sure about this, as I haven’t counted them). The sound is beautiful and mellow, at least in my ears, but it isn’t very loud, so I don’t think it would be good for concerts without an amplifier. “My” harp is quite old, but I have no idea how old (from the seventies maybe, my teacher suggested), so I can’t speak for newer Angelicas. I don’t think Salvi makes them anymore? They’re not on the website.
I hope this helps!renate-kvalsvikParticipantThanks for answering. There is an apartment at ground level in the same building, but it is a bit smaller, so that’s why we’ve been favouring the top one. Or, mainly it’s my husband who wants the top apartment, while I want the bottom one because of the harp and also the possibility of a walk-in closet. Hm, what to do…
I have actually been considering a lightweight concert harp, such as the Aoyama Princess Sakura, which weighs only 28.8kg (63,5 lbs). If the bottom apartment gets sold before we can get a loan (we are in the process of negotiating with the bank) and we have to buy the top one, would this be a good choice? Or shoud we avoid the top apartment altogether?(PS, in the title of this topic I meant of course harp cart, not arp cart…)
renate-kvalsvikParticipantThanks, Karen 🙂 I’ll see if I can make my own arrangement from this.
June 29, 2010 at 10:38 am in reply to: Your favorite kind of music to play? favorite pieces? #106372renate-kvalsvikParticipantKaren, can you please tell me where you found the music for Inis OÃrr? I’ve been looking for it on the web but can’t seem to find it. Is the arrangement for harp? It’s one of my favourite songs, especially since Inis OÃrr is one of my favourite places on Earth, and I would dearly love to be able to play it.
