Hi Dale, as i am following the Russian Method let me tell you that Scales and Arpeggios are basics in the russian method, its not a joke , you have to start your day practicing and warming up with it, there are many forms of them to practice, and playing them in a fast speed gives you a high technique believe me. you feel that your hands with finger are flying freely after playing it, but let me tell you something too sometimes we dont have enough time and we need to practice an important piece so we dont do it, but is it positive ? yes 100% its………
Hi Miriam, i can feel you, i had the same problem, 2 years ago i had tow student they both are adult girls, one of them was not serious in coming to lessons,but she loved to play the harp but how to play it without seriousty and practicing i dont understand. she quitted after a 3 month of a very tiring lessons , the second one was thinking that she is Amadeius but she was in fact in the lowest level of talent

Heidi that is really horrible, i hate such a kind of students and lessons, i had the last year an adult girl wanted to study the harp , she was very bad in solfege and ryhtm she got me crazy, as Carl said they should get a separate solege lesson, we are harp teachers not solfege….. there are many things to teach about the harp in the lesson ,no time for solfege.

Hi Sid , that what i think too, and do agree with you completely, but in the past time, there were some posts with discussions about the audition juries , and how much they care about the scores
Jennifer,i was thinking of your post in the past time, and said to my self that the books of Mrs Sarah Bullen are so good, but the question is do the jury accept her edition if you or we memorize her tow books if you are going to do an audition??? that is the problem, for example i see her Cadenza of Tchaikovsky Valse of Roses Nutcracker, i noticed that its not the same cadenza the conducters
Hi guy, i think you misunderstand some of answers, i said too its not a must that if you are a great player means that you can be or you are a great teacher, but teachers should be good player, and play the music they teach very well and understand it and the most important how to explain the ideas inside of it, but some good teachers have no enough nerves to face the public or by other reason they like to teach and prepare good students than playing by them selves. now i dont have students when i had them through a 3 years , you know i had no enough time to practice for my self, i used to sit with every student for 3 hours and after lessons got extremely tired of listening to music or practice, also let me answer the main post , also the musicien who want to be a teacher ,he or she should attend the lessons of their teachers , and see how the teacher teach,its really a very important thing.

Hi,i can tell you about my self .i got a teacher after 12 years of playing the harp, i think i am good ,and hope that i am not mistaken, you know you have to know exactly and theoritically and practically the Method you are playing, and its not a rule that a Good player is a good teacher . there are some musiciens born to be teachers or pedagoges. and being a teacher dosent mean that we dont need to learn new things all the time in our life, sometimes students give ideas to teachers that they didnt think about it before.

Oh Dear Elizabeth ,i feel very sorry for you since i heard about you, that is really hard and difficult, but please dont force your leg , let it have a good rest, my cousine broke her leg and she kept walking on it ,she is not musicien , and now she is suffering of many pains, you may use it gradually step by step after taking the cast off.
